McMillan’s Walking Track John Chapman
McMillan’s Track is 210 km. long and runs along the southern side of the Victorian Alps in Eastern Victoria. This guide has been divided into 6 sections with 2 wheel drive access at the start and end of each section. This walk takes up to 14 days to complete with deep gullys and river crossings this track gives you a very different experience and is an excellent lead up to the Australian Alps Walking Track.
Angus McMillan (back in 1864) cut a series of walking tracks linking the goldfields of Gippsland. The track became overgrown through diuse until 1983 when John Smith & volunteers from the Ben Cruachan Walking Club rediscovered it and took on the task of clearing it & in 1988 the track was officially re-opened & the walking club still maintains it today. This walk also has historical features such as stonewalling & mining relics as well as scenic views and tall forests.
