NOWA NOWA

At the northern end of Lake Tyers

Nowa Nowa is situated at the very north end of Lake Tyers in Victoria's East Gippsland region.

The Nowa Nowa General Store has a range of maps covering the area including detailed maps of Lake Tyers

On the immediate south side of the township is a landing on an arm of the lake where small boats can be launched and moored. Near the landing is a wetlands walking trail.

This view is of Boggy Creek immediately below the town, the view below is of Boggy Creek immediately above the town before it has been transformed into a tidal estuary.

In the forest, a few kilometres from town is Mount Nowa Nowa with its old disused wooden fire-tower.

Boggy Creek Gorge is on the northern outskirts of town. There is a viewing area off the Bruthen Road.

Travel Tip

A gravel forest road off the Princes Highway between Nowa Nowa and Lakes Entrance leads to the Burnt Bridge Picnic Area. This is a beautiful and peaceful spot beside an old disused road bridge. Here you can often see fish jumping and watch pelicans going about there daily routine, or you can try to catch a fish yourself.

A walking track heads up the shoreline for about one kilometre to Cherry Tree Picnic Area..
