The Bridle Track from Bathurst to Hill End via Bruinbun is a narrow, winding gravel road surrounded by spectacular scenery. The road is suitable for conventional cars most of the time; however, may become impassable after heavy or prolonged rain. |
| There are many blind corners to negotiate. Only drivers confident in such conditions (and with a healthy heart) should attempt the Bridle Track. |

There are lots of old mines and mining relics around Hill End. You are sure to stumble onto something of interest. |

| After negotiating the Bridle Track and spending some time around the historic town of Hill End, the road opens up as a comfortable gravel road through Hargraves, famous for the first discovery of gold in Australia. An Aborigine found a huge 48 kilogram chunk of the metal. A population of 20,000 people followed to establish Hargraves as an important gold mining centre. |
