MOULAMEIN

On the Edward River

Moulamein is a beautiful and peaceful haven well away from the hustle and bustle of the city and larger country towns. It is situated beside the Edward River, between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours from Barham, Swan Hill, Balranald or Deniliquin in the Western Riverina district of New South Wales. Moulamein Newsagency in Tallow Street (at the service station) has local topographic maps or state and interstate touring maps and books.
Bring a tinny and you can launch it onto the Edward from within the town of Moulamein. Add a fishing rod, tackle and some bait and the perfect day exploring the river is ahead of you.

If you prefer land-based activities, why not go for a walk along the forest trails among the River Redgums. There's always new river scenery just around the next corner.
Moulamein Lake is a great spot for a picnic. Even if there aren't any boats on the lake, you can still watch nature's ships of the inland (the pelicans) going about their daily routine.

Travel Tip

When in Moulamein, take a moment to explore the riverside walking tracks on the township side of the river. One track crosses this old footbridge over Billabong Creek to an historic and unusually situated Court House.
