To visit Kuranga Native Nursery at 118 York Road, Mount Evelyn is to experience a new generation plant nursery offering Australia's largest range of native plants. The architect-designed building features 100 year-old, massive exposed beams and recycled ironbark wharf timbers from Sydney Harbour.

It's more like a day out to visit Kuranga. You can wander around the specially designed gardens, have breakfast, lunch or a coffee and cake in the Paperbark Cafe and browse the unique gift shop packed with fascinating Australiana craft products including cards, candles, pottery, vases, wind-chimes, jewellery and a huge assortment of creatures made from ceramic, terracotta and pewter, and there's much more. Travel Tip

For a great day out from Melbourne head out through the eastern Suburbs along Canterbury Road to the Mount Evelyn turnoff at York Road. Call in to the Kuranga Native Nursery for refreshments and a browse, then continue your journey through Silvan, Monbulk, and Belgrave to return to Melbourne via Burwood Highway. There's lots to see and do along the way.
