BOYD VALLEY, South-West of Grafton A fantastic getaway destination
Spend an extra day and escape the rat-race with a leisurely drive through the Boyd Valley via The Old Grafton Road, Dalmorton and Newton Boyd, and return to Grafton along the Gwydir Highway through the Gibraltar Range. Note: The turnoff along Old Grafton Road to the Boyd Valley is from the Gwydir Highway, 13km east of South Grafton. To do this trip make sure you have a copy of Hema's North-East NSW map. |

The Boyd Valley offers a scenic drive along quiet gravel roads. The roads may be a little rough at times, but that is a small price to pay for a great day (or two) out. |
| Take a tent and some camping gear, and look for that perfect riverside camping spot. |

Nothing much remains of the old township site of Dalmorton, which showed a lot more activity during the gold mining era than it does today. |
|
|
The road passes through an old tunnel reputed to have been built by convict labour. The road is known as 'The Old Grafton Road', which suggests it was once a main route west from Grafton. |
