Travel Tip

If you have a four-wheel drive (or a sturdy 2WD) vehicle make sure you visit Brunton's Bridge reached from Walhalla by following the road above the railway station, on your right, at the entrance to Walhalla township. This is a rough dry weather bush road which winds through the forest for about 11 kilometres before reaching one of the most beautiful spots to be found in this part of the ranges. Camping is permitted at the old Brunton township site. An old steel-framed coach bridge dating back to the 1880s goldfields era has been converted to a foot bridge. 4WD vehicles can cross the river via a ford, turn right at a T Junction and complete a circuit tour via the Erica - Cowwarr Road back to Erica.
