Eildon Service Station

Tank up to go fishing

Eildon Service Station is usually busy with fishermen and boat owners stocking up on fuel, bait and ice before enjoying an outing on the lake. The service station also has detailed maps of the lake and the surrounding forest areas including Big River and they may even be able to advise you where the fish are biting.

Eildon Pondage is a quiet body of water below the main dam wall. The pondage settles the water to river temperature before being released into the Goulburn River through a power generating turbine. The pondage is an extremely popular shore based recreational angling water.

One of the beauty spots and prime touring destinations close to Eildon is Snobs Creek Falls. The falls are one of the most beautiful and impressive within an easy drive from Melbourne. But be warned, the road leading to the falls is 6 kilometres of rough gravel road.

A popular 4WD tour close to Eildon is to follow Rubicon River Road from Rubicon Power Station. The track passes beneath a disused tramway trestle bridge. If you haven';t got a good map of the area, call in to the service station for one.
