HORSHAM

The Department of Primary Industries - Grain Innovation Centre

The Department of Primary Industries operates a modern information centre at the recently constructed Grain Innovation Centre at 110 Natimuk Road, Horsham.

The information Centre has a wide variety of publications and covering parks, reserves, natural history, recreational activities and agricultural topics. They also have a good range of maps covering local areas.

The Wimmera River flows through the town of Horsham. On the banks of the river are spacious parklands with picnic facilities and walking tracks. Small boats can also be launched into the river.

If bushwalking is your thing, head for The Grampians. It is one of Victoria's, and perhaps Australia's most exciting bushwalking destinations with hundreds of kilometres of walking tracks ranging from easy to difficult.

Pictured is a bushwalker quenching her thirst at Venus Baths.

Hi. My name is Jim Seamus, named after the Flora and Fauna Officer who rescued me. I am a Central Bearded Dragon and live in the DPI Information Centre at Horsham where I am lovingly cared for.

You are welcome to visit me anytime during business hours.

Travel Tip

If you are in Horsham with time to spare, you won't do better than to take a circuit drive through the wonderful Grampian Ranges. From Horsham follow the back road through Wartook and then across the ranges to Halls gap. Along the way you will pass Mackenzie Falls and some great lookouts.

The Grampians National Park is one of the best natural attractions in Australia with rugged, rocky mountains and escarpments. This photo is of the spell-binding Mackenzie Falls.
