Warrnambool is situated adjacent to the mouth of
the Hopkins River and the beautiful Lady Bay. The town was once a busy port,
particularly during the 1880s when it handled more cargo than Port
Melbourne.
This picture shows the historic Proudfoot's Boathouse at the mouth of the Hopkins River. The building is now a tavern, tearooms and restaurant. |

Travel Tip |

|
Hopkins Falls For something completely different, take a trip out to Hopkins Falls. These falls are located about 8 kilometres off the Princes Highway between Panmure and Allansford. Look for the 'Cudgee' turnoff. These falls can be quite impressive, particularly after good periods of rain. |
