Aussie Disposals, Sale Heart of Gippsland |
Aussie Disposals Raymond Street, Sale has an excellent range of camping gear, clothing and footwear. They also have a well-stocked map stand with lots of local titles.
Sale, as well as being convenient to the Victorian Alpine region and the Ninety-Mile Beach, is the gateway to the Gippsland Lakes. The old Port of Sale on Flodding Creek has recently been reinvented for small craft mooring and harbouside picnics. |
Fishing is a great recreational activity for the
Sale region. With a multitude of rivers, lakes and beaches, there is always
something on the bite. This photo is at the famous Ninety-Mile Beach.. |

Just south of Sale, at Longford, where the Thomson and Latrobe Rivers meet is this historic swing bridge beside the South Gippsland Highway. The bridge actually swings off the centre pylons allowing taller vessels to pass through. |
| The Avon River, north of Sale offers good bushwalking scenery. This photo is from the Avon River Walking Track between Wombat Crossing and The Channels. |

1872 Shipwreck An ancient shipwreck, more than 137 years old, lies rusting away on the Ninety-Mile Beach. Take the road from Longford towards Golden Beach via the Loch Sport Road. At Golden Beach township, turn right towards Seaspray and look for the sign indicating 'The Trinculo'. It is then a short walk to the wreck site. |
