OLD WALHALLA

By Raymond Paull

A Classic Gold Mining Town

Old Walhalla was first published in 1963. The book has been reprinted in a revised format in 2003.

It tells the story of Walhalla, from the town's rise in 1863, until it's almost demise in the 1960s. In recent times Walhalla has enjoyed a resurgence due to the popularity of the old township as a tourist attraction. Every weekend hundreds of visitors can be found exploring the streets and relics of the mining days. The district is also a very popular region for bushwalking and bush driving, being one end of the famous Australian Alps Walking Track.
