This is a story of how the southern Blue Mountains and Burragorang Valley were named. The author had hardly taken up pen before realising that The historic cornerstone of the project rested substantially on two emotive factors—an ex-convict input which lasted a few decades, and an overlapping remnant of local Aboriginal names which perforce must compress a fifty thousand year old culture.
