This guide covers the northern section of the Heysen Trail, from Spalding to Parachilna Gorge. Traversing the upper Mid North and Flinders Rangers Region of the state, the trail takes in rugged ranges, sweeping valleys, deep gorges, forests of native pine and meandering creek beds, providing spectacular views along the way.

The guide is divided into six sections and within each section into shorter walks, enabling walkers to plan their trips based on the time available. Each chapter has a summary of shorter walks, ideal for weekend walkers or those with limited time.

An overview map is included at the beginning of each chapter, as well as detailed 1:50,000 topographic maps of the sections of the trail covered by that chapter
