BASS STRAIT

This book by Gippsland regional historian P.D Gardner examines the origins of over four hundred names in and around Bass Strait, included the coast of Victoria from Cape Otway's to Lakes Entrance and the North Coast of Tasmania. The book takes note of previous names, Aboriginal names and other aspects of original interest as well as including amusing and anecdotal snippets of history . It follows on from  the Authors series  on Gippsland names and can be either used as a quick reference by visitors or as a historical guide for those yachtsmen and fishermen who frequent the waters

PRINCES HIGHWAY BETWEEN MELBOURNE AND SYDNEY

This book follows on from my previous works on place names in Gippsland. Readers will note that a considerable number of towns are now bypassed and included are most of the towns that are now of the realigned highway. Included are places of  aboriginal interest. However where no information is available at all on an Aboriginal name the place has been omitted.

This book is the fifth by regional historian P.D Gardner to examine the place names of Gippsland in detail. Here there is an account of the of the origins and the histories of such local names from Seaspray to Phillip Island and from Mirboo to Wilsons Promontory. The names of the Prom are of special interest. Also the book has original research on Aboriginal names and their meanings. Their is also a brief set of notes on the Aboriginal tribes, their fate and their names. Other various snippets and anecdotes are included. 

LATROBE VALLEY  AND WEST GIPPSLAND

This is the sixth and final book by regional historians P.D Gardner to examine the place names of Gippsland in detail. Here there is an account of the of the origins and the histories of such local names from Robin Hood to Kilmany and from Mirboo North  to Mt Howitt. The series is now available to help guide tourist and historians to the interesting or the unusual place names right across Gippsland.

GREAT ALPINE ROAD BETWEEN WANGARATTA AND OMEO

This is the sixth and final book by regional historians P.D Gardner to examine the place names of Gippsland in detail. Here is a companion booklet to the author 's popular Names of the Omeo Highway, now republished as Names of the Great Alpine road between  Bairnsdale and Omeo. Also the book has original research on Aboriginal names and their meanings. Their is also a brief set of notes on the Aboriginal tribes, their fate and their names. Other various snippets and anecdotes are included.

Although much has already been written on the Great Alpine road ( formally the Omeo Highway) this is the first time that comprehensive account has been presented in its entirely between Bairnsdale and Omeo.
