Terror and the Scenic Coast

There are many extraordinary scenes to be viewed on the 40 walking tracks described in this book between Batemans Bay and Green Cape, south of Eden. The coastline is grimly impressive in places, serene in others. There are sharp-edged rock platforms and forbidding cliffs, curving white beaches and beautiful lakes and lagoons. Inland, beyond the shore, there are lofty mountains where trails take you as high as the peaks. Patches of rainforest add diversity to the immense eucalypt forests up and down the coast. The author combines a love of walking and his fascination with history to bring you this informative and functional guide book.

Unlocking History's Secrets

The history of Canberra region comes alive in this book as the author takes motorists on ten heritage trails north, east and south of the Australian Capital Territory. Governors and convicts, bishops and bushrangers, squatters and selectors; all figure in these pages. Some pray, others shoot to kill. Tours will take the reader to Yass, Gunning, Goulburn, Collector, Gundaroo, Bungendore, Braidwood, Majors Creek, Cooma and Adaminaby.

Under discussion are homesteads, cathedrals, war memorials, churches, monuments to local worthies, railway stations, pubs and country graveyards. Most of us dash through the countryside oblivious to the fascinating historical material all around us.
